Iran’s Islamic regime is preparing to execute Bita Hemmati — a woman whose crime was standing on a rooftop and throwing bottles at government thugs during the January protests. She’ll be the first female protester put to death. Her husband, Mohammadreza Majidi Asl, and two other men were sentenced alongside her. All four are headed for the gallows.
But sure, tell us again how Trump’s blockade of Iran was “disproportionate” and “reckless.” We’ll wait.
The sentences came from Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by a judge the Iranian opposition literally calls “the Executioner” — Judge Iman Afshari. The charges? “Operational actions for the hostile government of the United States and terrorist groups.” Translation: she protested, and in Iran, that means you work for America and you die. https://twitter.com/CrimewivesClub/status/2044432520524030337
All four defendants also had every asset they own confiscated. Because when the mullahs kill you, they rob you first. Classy regime.
Here’s the number that should hit you like a truck: Iran carried out at least 1,639 executions in 2025 alone. One year. Over 1,600 people. And now they’re stacking up death sentences from the January 2026 protests like firewood.
The New York-based Center for Human Rights in Iran says dozens of people arrested during the protests were sentenced to death in “grossly unfair, fast-tracked trials” with no real lawyers, no due process, and confessions beaten out of them. Literally tortured into signing their own death warrants.
And yet — AND YET — we spent the last three months listening to Democrats scream that Trump was the real threat to human rights because he parked the Navy outside the Strait of Hormuz. Eighty-five of them filed impeachment papers over it. Nancy’s friends were on cable news comparing a naval blockade to “an act of war against a sovereign nation.”
A sovereign nation that executes women for throwing a water bottle at a cop.
Remember when Jimmy Kimmel did that tearful monologue about how Trump “has the same views as the Ayatollah”? That was a real thing that happened on network television. The Ayatollah is executing a woman for attending a protest and Kimmel thinks the guy who wants to stop them is the villain. Hollywood, everybody.
(Someone should tell Jimmy that the Ayatollah’s “views” include hanging people from cranes in public squares. But hey, at least the Ayatollah never tweeted anything mean, right?) https://twitter.com/NiohBerg/status/2044457165176361182
This is the regime Democrats wants us to negotiate nicely with. Send diplomats. Use “measured language.” Maybe write them a strongly worded letter from the UN Human Rights Council — you know, the same council that has China and Saudi Arabia on it.
Trump’s approach? Park a carrier group on their doorstep and tell them we’re not bluffing. And guess what — Iran came to the table. They agreed to a ceasefire. Because that’s what happens when bullies meet someone who punches back.
Meanwhile, Bita Hemmati sits in a Tehran prison waiting to find out when the regime will kill her. Her “trial” lasted about as long as your average drive-through order. The judge didn’t need to hear evidence because the confession was already beaten out of her.
A fifth defendant — Amir Hemmati, described as Bita’s relative — got six years in prison for “propaganda against the regime.” That’s the light sentence. That’s what you get when they decide to go easy on you. Six years in an Iranian dungeon for the crime of having an opinion.
So the next time one of your progressive friends starts lecturing you about how Trump’s Iran policy was “too aggressive” or “lacked nuance,” show them Bita Hemmati’s name. Show them the number 1,639. Ask them exactly how much nuance they’d like us to use with a government that executes women for protesting.
We already know the answer. They don’t actually care about Iranian women. They care about opposing Trump. If Trump cured cancer, they’d start a GoFundMe for the tumors.
