Kevin McCarthy Confirms What Every Member of Congress Knew About Eric Swalwell Before He Resigned in Shame

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) — the guy who got honeypotted by a Chinese spy, sat on the House Intelligence Committee anyway, and spent four years lecturing America about Donald Trump’s “moral failings” — just resigned from Congress. He didn’t retire. He didn’t announce he was “spending more time with his family.” He bolted. Packed up his desk and ran for the exits like the building was on fire.

Gee, wonder what the rush is! Could it have something to do with the Manhattan DA opening a criminal investigation into multiple sexual assault allegations? Or the fourth accuser who’s about to go public at a Beverly Hills press conference tomorrow? Nah, probably just a coincidence.

Here’s what we know so far. At least four women have now accused Swalwell of sexual assault. One of them told CNN — not exactly a right-wing outlet — that Swalwell raped her in 2024 after a prior assault in 2019. The House Ethics Committee launched a probe. The Manhattan DA’s office is “closely reviewing” the case. And a fifth accuser is reportedly waiting in the wings.

Five women. Five.

But the part of this story that should make your blood boil isn’t Swalwell himself. It’s what Kevin McCarthy said about him. McCarthy told reporters — on the record — that “every member of Congress knows not to let any young staffer around Swalwell.”

Every. Member. Knows.

WATCH: The Sunday shows immediately cover the rape allegations against U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell. Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy describes how he tried to get rid of Swalwell since the Fang Fang days.

So we’re supposed to believe that hundreds of elected officials in Washington knew this guy was a danger to young women — and nobody did a thing about it? Nobody pulled him off his committee assignments? Nobody reported him? Nobody said a word? They just whispered warnings to their own staff and let him keep prowling the halls of Congress with a security clearance and access to classified intelligence?

Welcome to Washington, folks. Where protecting the party is more important than protecting people.

Can anyone explain THIS insanity about @ericswalwell ?!?! They all KNEW and did NOTHING?!?!?!

Kevin McCarthy: “If you got the briefing that I got from the FBI, you would not have Eric Swalwell on any committee."

Remember, this is the same Eric Swalwell who carried on a relationship with Fang Fang — a literal Chinese intelligence operative — and when it came out, the Democrats didn’t kick him off the Intelligence Committee. Nancy Pelosi defended him. Adam Schiff defended him. They kept him in place because he was useful. He’d go on MSNBC every night and call Trump a Russian asset with a straight face, and that was more valuable to the Democratic Party than, you know, not having a compromised congressman with a Chinese spy in his contact list.

The same pattern repeated with the assault allegations. Swalwell was a reliable attack dog on TV. He generated clips. He raised money. So the whisper network did its thing — warn the staffers, protect the brand, keep the cameras rolling.

(This is the party that weaponized #MeToo, by the way. The party that told us to “believe all women” right up until one of their own was the accused. Funny how that works.)

The timeline here is worth paying attention to. The first accuser says the assaults go back to 2019. That’s five years of alleged predatory behavior while this man sat in Congress, appeared on national television almost daily, and had access to some of the most sensitive intelligence in the country. Five years where “everyone knew” but nobody acted.

And now he’s gone. Resigned effective immediately. No farewell speech. No teary press conference. Just a written statement and a quick exit before the next accuser takes the podium.

You know what that looks like? That looks like a guy whose lawyers told him to stop talking, stop being a public figure, and start preparing for criminal proceedings. Innocent people don’t flee like that. Innocent people hold press conferences and fight back. Swalwell grabbed his briefcase and headed for the door.

In one week, Eric Swalwell was forced to drop out of the California race, put under criminal investigation in New York, and is the subject of a bipartisan expulsion effort. He was even kicked out of the home of a billionaire who was letting him crash. However, that is not all…

The Manhattan DA’s office hasn’t filed charges yet, but with four accusers on the record, a fifth coming forward, and a criminal investigation underway, it’s hard to see how this ends with anything other than a courtroom. The evidence is apparently serious enough that CNN — CNN! — ran the rape allegation from one of the accusers without the usual fourteen layers of “allegedly” and “sources say.”

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party is doing what it always does when one of their own gets caught: pretending they never knew the guy. Watch how fast Swalwell’s face disappears from the DCCC fundraising emails. Watch how quickly his former colleagues develop amnesia about all those late-night cable TV hits they cheered on.

They knew. McCarthy said they knew. The whisper network confirms they knew. And they chose the party over the women every single time.

That press conference in Beverly Hills tomorrow is going to be must-watch television. Accuser number five steps up to the microphone while Swalwell hides behind his lawyers somewhere in Northern California.

The guy who spent years telling America that Donald Trump was unfit for office just resigned in disgrace ahead of a criminal investigation involving at least four women. No Chinese spy scandal could take him down. No Intelligence Committee controversy could touch him. But this? This is the one where the music finally stopped — and Eric Swalwell didn’t have a chair.

Good riddance.
