New York City’s brand-new socialist mayor, Zohran Mamdani, just dumped $65 million of taxpayer money into “gender-affirming care” clinics, created an entire new government office dedicated to LGBTQIA+ affairs, threatened to punish hospitals that won’t perform the surgeries — and then hopped on social media to announce that transgender lives are “not a political issue.”
Whoa! And I’m “not a writer” — I just happen to put words on a screen for money.
Mamdani — a former hip-hop artist who went by “Mr. Cardamom” and whose biggest management achievement before becoming mayor was supervising a staff of five — posted his declaration on the “Transgender Day of Visibility.” That’s the political holiday Joe Biden invented in 2024 that conveniently landed on Easter Sunday. Nothing political about any of this, folks.
“Your existence is not up for debate. Your lives are not a political issue,” wrote the guy who literally ran on a platform of spending $152 million on LGBTQIA+ programs. The Democratic Socialists of America helped write his policy platform, and DSA steering committee member Daniel Goulden couldn’t stop bragging about it.
“Zohran is literally attempting to do what conservatives say we want to do, which is provide gender-affirming care to anyone who wants it for free,” Goulden said. “We’re gonna fly people in and pay for their hotel rooms.”
Not political, though.
Goulden kept going: “There’s no reason at all that we can’t use telehealth and mailing prescriptions to people across the whole country to undermine state bans.” The Mamdani campaign then hilariously denied Goulden was even affiliated with them. (Classic Democrat move — say the quiet part loud, then pretend the microphone was off.)
And here’s the real kicker — the $65 million might not even exist. Mamdani released his $127 billion preliminary budget and, according to an analysis by Prism, the funding “has not been explicitly allocated.” His office didn’t respond to questions about where the money is. So he promised $65 million in sex-change funding to get elected, the socialists bragged about writing the plan, and now nobody can find the cash. Even the trans activists who canvassed for him are demanding receipts.
Donald Trump nailed this guy perfectly: “100% Communist Lunatic.”
This is what Democrats do every single time. They ram through the most radical, politically charged agenda imaginable — new government offices, taxpayer-funded surgeries, LGBTQIA+ liaisons planted in every school district — and then stare directly into the camera and tell you it’s “not political.” It’s Orwell with a rainbow flag and a $127 billion budget.
Mr. Cardamom went from rapping in his buddy’s basement to running a city of eight million people on a socialist platform bankrolled by the DSA. His inauguration was narrated by a transgender subway announcer and Bernie Sanders swore him in. But sure — nothing political happening in New York City. Just vibes and joy.
New Yorkers better enjoy those vibes while they can still afford rent.
